Christmas Catch-Up

I had really good intentions to update the blog weekly when I started it this summer. I seem to forget how demanding being a teacher can be. I can’t say I had the time to update, because I’m certain I could have found the time at some point.
Speaking of school, we have a short Christmas break this year, only a week and a half. I miss the days of two week breaks dearly. I have lots of plans of things I want to get done. Whether they will happen or not I am not certain.
Here’s a little bit of what we’ve been up to since November.
• Before Thanksgiving, I had an educator’s conference at the Lake of the Ozarks. The conference was good and it’s always fun to see friends there, too.
• Jeff’s family came over to our place to celebrate Thanksgiving. Jeff went to get Black Friday deals at 2am while I slept in. Then we made our way to my brother’s place and spent some time with him and his family.
• The Saturday after Thanksgiving my God-daughter Ruby was baptized. She is the daughter of one of my best friends, Liz, and her husband, Doug.
• Throughout December things were very busy. At school, I was busy preparing for our Christmas musical. Even though I never wanted or asked to do a musical (we usually do a traditional nativity thing) I somehow got put in charge of directing the musical. How did this happen, you ask? What? You are not a music teacher, Mary… was there some mistake? No, I am the one who can read music the best and therefore it was determined that I should direct the music. I’m hoping since we did such a big deal for our Christmas program that our Spring program will be scaled back a bit.
I’ll update soon about our Christmas and add some pictures. Feel free to leave a comment if you stopped by to read!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! It’s a white Christmas here!
I will finally have time to post some entries soon! Jeff and our nephew D’Ondre are out shoveling right now but if we don’t get out, I will have LOTS of time to post today. It appears as if the main roads are passable but we’re not sure if we’ll be able to get into my mother-in-law’s place. We’ll see how the day goes!

Happy Birthday Jesus! If you are able to get out to church or not, make sure to take time to worship our newborn Savior!
