Monthly Archives: October 2010

Life has been pretty busy lately. Heidi and the kids, and then Karin and the kids came last weekend, and to make it even more exciting Jeff’s nephew Anthony and our neighbor girl came over for a while.
Heidi and the kids got to our place late Wednesday night, hung around here on Thursday, went to a park for a bit, then they came to my school for a little while on Friday, we went to IHOP, hung out around the house, and Karin and the kids came and surprised Heidi’s kids. It was fun to see them so surprised! On Saturday we hiked a 2.5 mile train in the woods at the park, climbed the trees in our backyard (only the kids did that), then Karin and the kids headed back to their place. On Sunday we went to church before Heidi and the kids headed out. It was a lot of fun, and it is always nice to have guests around. Our house survived, minus our screen door. The screen itself was already broken, but it got dented and knocked off the track, too. A small price to pay for a weekend with family!

As you can see, I still need to figure out the settings on my camera.

This week at school I had parent teacher conferences. After some strife earlier in the year, I was a little anxious about how they would go, but things all went smoothly, parents are generally happy, and my class as whole is a really good class.

This weekend, nothing is planned, and that is, quite frankly, the way I prefer it to be. Next weekend is the school auction, so that is always a super busy one. Hopefully lots of people will come and spend lots of money!

Exciting Times

Last night we held our long-awaited game night from the school auction. It was a lot of fun! We have this murder mystery kit, so I think our auction items this year might be, for adults, “Murder Mystery with the Moores” and my kid thing will be “Missouri Mavericks with the Moores.” The Missouri Mavericks are a minor-league hockey team. And, they all start with M’s, so I thought it would be funny.

It is SO NICE to wake up to a clean house this morning. Except for a few dishes that didn’t fit in the dishwasher, everything is clean. Well, that and a few closets…. I try to tell Jeff that my good mood is directly related to the cleanliness of the house, but he doesn’t buy it.

For someone who doesn’t like to wake up early, ever, I got up, on a Saturday no less, at 8am.┬áThis morning I have already gone to Target, a volleyball game, and am awaiting a friend to come pick me up to go to a birthday party for another friend’s son.

But, I can hardly contain my excitement about Wednesday. My sister and the kids are coming to visit on Wednesday, and then on Friday, Karin is coming with Cara and Gus. I’m looking for inexpensive things to do around Kansas City. I did find a free pumpkin patch that has free hayrides, but it’s 40 minutes away.

Quick Update

Nothing much new this week, but it’s really busy. I did make a menu:

Sunday quesadillas
Monday Spaghetti
Tuesday Chicken and pierogies
Thursday Hamburger hotdish
Friday Game Night
Saturday Something with chicken

At our school auction last year we sold this game night thing, and the people that bought it are finally redeeming it, two weeks before our NEXT auction. So I have a house to clean and food to make, etc.

That’s all for now!

Menu Week of 10/03

Pretty simple this week. I moved pizza night to Saturday because we’re making pizzas for a fundraiser at school on Saturday afternoon. I’m off to the store to get some bagged salads for lunches.

It’s well after dinner/supper time here, so I didn’t put anything on the menu. We went out for lunch with Jeremy and Karin, and I’m pretty full still.

Monday Stuffed shells
Tuesday cereal
Wednesday Tuna helper
Thursday Sausage and pepper sandwiches
Friday Breakfast for supper
Saturday Pizza

Week in Review 9/26

Well, this was a busy week. Thursday we went to a Royal’s game, which was fun. They won, so that was good. It was the only baseball game I went to all season. Last season I went to a few more. Friday we went to a happy hour for two of Jeff’s coworkers. (They are getting married to each other.) They are good friends, so it was nice to be there for them. Saturday morning we left to go to my goddaughter, Ruby’s first birthday party. We spent the day with my friend Liz and her family, and then went to my brother’s house for the evening. Today we went to his church, out for lunch, and back home.

The menu-following was so terrible this week, I don’t even want to tell you how bad it was! Let’s just say that we followed the menu Sunday and Monday. I don’t even remember what we had on Tuesday, and the rest of the week was terrible. I need to really buckle down these next few days if I don’t want to have a huge gain at weight watchers.

This week is super-busy, too, but I’m going to work hard to make it go more smoothly!

ETA- Our October challenge is to have five servings of fruits and veggies every day!
